Developer Do Nots !
Something I have forgotten to warn you about, that is a very important fact… when using Developer (hydrogen peroxide), one of the most important pieces of info you will ever hear, is this:
IF YOU LEAVE THE TOP OFF OF THE BOTTLE OF DEVELOPER IT WILL LOSE ITS ‘PUNCH’
IF ITS LOSES ITS “PUNCH”….IT WILL NOT COLOR YOUR HAIR PROPERLY.
THE COLORS WILL NOT DEPOSIT CORRECTLY.
THE BLEACHES WILL NOT LIFT AND LIGHTEN CORRECTLY.
EVERYTHING WILL BE JUST “OFF” ENOUGH, to make it horrid. ………
YOUR HAIR WILL LOOK THE SAME AS IF YOU HAD USED A BOXED KIT OR SOME BEGINNER COLORIST HAD JUST EXPERIMENTED WITH YOUR HAIR COLOR FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME.
****THIS IS SO IMPORTANT* * * * THAT IF YOU HAVE DONE THIS, TO DATE,
You must throw that bottle of Developer out, period
I have had to do this a couple times, but I did it. Luckily hydrogen peroxide is inexpensive. I should have told you this important fact a long time ago. Please, be aware of it always.

BLEACH SOAP CAP …..
FIRST STEP to LIGHTENING >
PREVIOUSLY COLOR TREATED HAIR
To begin the POST on Bleaching Previously Colored Hair, I needed to have this explained , first. So those of you waiting for the directions to bleaching hair that has COLOR on it. Read and Re-Read this. You need to begin the process with one of these two processes:
- Bleach Soap Cap.....................With 1 - 1 1/2 Levels to Lift (fast,easy,inexpensive, not near the control)
- VANISH Color Corrector......With 2 -10 Levels to Lift (lengthy, more expensive, absolute best way to take color out of hair - does NOT damage, worth every penny)
This would be the first step with a small amount of color to get out of the hair before you begin the bleaching process. It is very difficult to explain exactly to you on a piece of paper how much color we are talking about, use your best judgment and know that with each attempt, you will learn tons of info to help with the next application. For a ball park reference I would say if you need to lighten the hair 1 to 1 1/2 levels then this is your treatment of choice…anymore than that and you should be using VANISH COLOR REMOVER, I have referred to.
This bleach soap cap is also known as a decolorizing or stripping shampoo. They are normally used for:
Removing color from hair to be tinted lighter
Removing excess deposit from hair immediately after tint ( many of you complain about)
Helping Presoften
Achieving a maximum of 1 to 1 ½ Levels of lift
Shopping List
Developer or Hydrogen Peroxide or Peroxide ( all the names people use = all mean the exact same thing) I am sticking with Developer – remember that (please) . 10 Volume – 2OZ.
Bleach – powder 1/4 teaspoon .... When mixing powder bleach getting the right consistency is very important, use your directions until you get used to the consistency. If its too dry, it stops working! It must stay moist.
Shampoo 1 OZ.- any kind, doesn’t matter.
Conditioner 1 OZ.- ditto
Tint Bowl
Tint Brush
Timer
Towels
Application
First lay the towels down . You need to be able to watch the hair as it lightens – to know when it is done. There is no set time….
This formula would normally be applied at the shampoo bowl, but I have done them at the sink since being home, and it works fine…it’s a bit messy, but what isn’t!
You mix all 4 items in the tint bowl….wet the hair….and begin slopping gracefully on the hair….applying in broad sweeps of the brush.
Because the formula works very quickly, care must be taken and the formula must be monitored from the entire time it is on the head – set a TIMER.
The formula can be strengthened or weakened by decreasing the amounts of shampoo & conditioner used, or by diluting with more of the same.
When this product is applied, the conditioner and shampoo act as buffers for the bleach formula, making it easier on the hair and scalp.
Although this formula seldom causes discomfort, always be aware that it is a decolorizing (bleaching) formula; therefore, it has a higher pH than most Tints.
Watch the hair as you work the lather through the hair…. If there are stubborn areas then take the two hands put them together in the praying position and move back and forth very quickly with the hair in between…. It truly helps get the color molecules to start moving around and encourages them to get out…of the strands.
BE VERY CAREFUL TO WATCH HAIR as it lightens....do not leave it on and do other things - BAD IDEA.
After maybe 10-20 minutes at the most….if its light enough, rinse in tepid water - be sure to rinse completely...rinse one full minute longer than you think you should rinse. Ring out excess water, towel dry for a few seconds, THEN> Use the after Treatment IN DEPTH Treatment by Wella to get the pH back to normal. Use your normal Sulfate-free shampoo….and condition with Goldwell's KERA SILK. All people going this light will have to revert back to a conditioner after EVERY shampoo. This hair is considered HIGH MAINTENANCE.
Always Deep condition after lightening the hair. Always.
Then if you are bleaching the hair you can…. wait one day ( the best)… or go right into it from here…
This Process can be used to lighten hair one level...... how many of you have had your hair colored and it was too dark...this is your trick....for lightening it one level even a level and a HALF. Its easy, its easy on your hair and its cheap.
For the ones going All the way to Platinum>>>>Just remember to condition - condition and for sure do the Slumber Conditioner ( put conditioner on-- comb it through-- and sleep in it. I swear I made a post of it...I'm so bad at organizing this - I apologize....does anyone know programming? And can help me.... I will trade you a few things to get some help>!! Email me if you can Killerstrands@gmail.com
